PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye composition containing a class 2 hair bleaching agent which bleaches the hair to the 7th stage and at the same time dyes it into one of various color tones in one step. SOLUTION: This dye is a derivative stable against the bleaching agent for an azo, triaryl methane, thiazine, or nitro dye. Its inactivating or weakly activating chemical group increases the stability of a dye in an alkaline bleaching agent, if it is on the aromatic ring of the dye or if it is bonded to ortho and/or para position in regard to the center of a bonded chromophore or an auxochrome. A dye molecule is liable to be attacked by the bleaching agent and finally decomposed if it lacks an inactive substituent or a weak active substituent at the ortho and/or para position or has a strong active group at the position. The inactivating and protective chemical group may be a nitro, halogen, cyano, carboxy, sulfone, alkyl or aromatic group, and must not be an amino, hydroxy, alkoxy, or alkylamide group.
