PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an ink-jet recording apparatus capable of increasing the recording speed using a pigment ink and improving the recording quality using a colorant ink. SOLUTION: The diameter of a nozzle 39a for jetting out the pigment ink is larger than the diameter of each of nozzles 39b to 39d for jetting out the colorant ink. The area S1 of an activation portion 41 for jetting out the pigment ink is larger than the area S2 of each of activation portions 42 to 44 for jetting out the colorant ink. The electrostatic capacitance C1 of the activation portion 41 is larger than the electrostatic capacitance C2 of each of the activation portions 42 to 44. The rise time T1 of a drive waveform for generating a piezoelectric effect in the activation portion 41 is longer than the rise time T2 of each of the drive waveforms for generating piezoelectric effects in the activation portions 42 to 44.
