PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a machine for continuous casting of steel that can effectively remove mixed layer of mold flux and oxide scale on the surface of cast piece which causes uneven cooling in the secondary cooling zone. SOLUTION: The layer of mold flux and oxide film (mixed layer 6) adhered to the surface of the cast piece 5 is removed in a distance between the casting mold 1 and the first support roll 4 (1st). The removal is preferably carried out by blasting water jet at a smashing pressure of≥10 N/cm<SP>2</SP>to the cast piece surface using a high pressured water spray nozzle 2.
