PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the outer layer of a rolling roll and the rolling roll which are provide with excellent wear resistance, toughness and the homogeneity of a carbide and also very excellent in thermal-crack resistance. SOLUTION: The rolling roll has an outer layer which has a structure with the dispersion of MC carbide of 20-60% in an area ratio and which has a compressive strength of≥2,800 MPa and is made by centrifugal casting. Alternatively, the roll has an outer layer which has a structure with the dispersion of MC carbide of 20-60% in the area ratio and which has a Shore hardness of≥90 in Shore hardness (Hs) and is made by the centrifugal casting.
