PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fed-batch fermentation process which uses special E. coli host/vector systems for the purpose of efficiently forming recombinant proteins, in particular recombinant antibody molecules, preferably antibody fragments such as miniantibodies. SOLUTION: An E. coli expression vector which is suitable for expressing exogenous proteins under high cell density fermentation conditions is constituted by using at least (i) an upstream terminator sequence and a downstream terminator sequence, (ii) lac promoter/operator system, (iii) a T7g10 Shine/Dalgarno sequence, (iv) pelB or ompA signal sequence, and (v) the sequence of an exogenous gene.
