The invention provides a method for monitoring cardiovascular disease in a subject, the method comprising determining the presence or absence of DAP- 12 and/or KIR2DS2 expression in CD4+CD28nuI1 cells from said subject, wherein the presence of DAP- 12 and/or KIR2DS2 expression in said cells correlates with disease progression.
