<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assay for determining patient's predisposition to epilepsy and/or contraction of epilepsy including a process of assay for determining patient's predisposition to epilepsy and/or contraction of epilepsy. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention provides loci for idiopathic generalized epilepsy, mutations thereof, and a method of using the loci for the assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of epilepsy. The invention particularly provides a method of determining patient's predisposition to epilepsy and/or contraction of epilepsy and a method of predicting patient's response to medication, including a process of determining patient's predisposition to epilepsy and/or contraction of epilepsy by determining genotypes in at least one gene selected from the group consisting of patient's SCN1A, SCN2A and SCN3A, or DNA mutants, equivalents or mutations exhibiting linkage disequilibrium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
