<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading technique for reducing restrictions on a read distance between a RFID tag and a RFID tag reader. <P>SOLUTION: An RFID tag reader 1 communicates with an RFID tag 8 incorporating a semiconductor memory to read information in the RFID tag, and the RFID tag reader includes a transmission processing part 3 which sends an electromagnetic wave toward the RFID tag through an antenna 7 with a prescribed transmission output, a reception processing part 4 which receives a response signal to the transmission output from the RFID tag through the antenna 7 and reproduces a reception signal, and a CPU 2 which controls operations of the transmission processing part and the reception processing part. The CPU switches the transmission output of the electromagnetic wave sent from the transmission processing part to a strong output and a weak output at prescribed intervals and sets the transmission output during the weak output to a level where the reception signal of the reception processing part is saturated, or lower. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
