PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device and an image recording method, with which color tones in a shadow side and a high-light side in a dot portion can be adjusted in an optimum state using a simple configuration and correction of color tones into different directions can be conducted in a simple configuration, when the balance of color tones differs between a shadow side and a high-light side. SOLUTION: The image recording method comprises irradiating of a photosensitive material with a plurality of light beams of different wavelength regions, based on binary dot image data to record a dotted image in the photosensitive material, and the method includes the steps of detecting boundary pixels of the binary dot image data, changing the color tone of the boundary pixels into a color tone different from a dotted portion except for the boundary pixels, deducing the dotted area ratio of the binary dot image data, and further, changing the color tone in a portion of the boundary pixels into another color tone according to a preliminarily determined probability corresponding to the dotted area ratio.
