A process having been developed in view of the problems of the conventional cleaning method, in which the operation of fitting a cap to each mouth portion of container after filling the interior of the container with contents can be carried out at low cost without any substantial change, and in which production of a content-filled container having its interstice between the cap and the mouth portion of container cleaned with increased effectiveness can be realized by carrying out the operation simultaneously with the operation of thermal sterilization of the interstice between the cap and the mouth portion of container. There is provided a process for producing a content-filled container having its mouth portion fitted with a cap, characterized by wetting with a clean liquid the internal surface of cap (c) before fitting to the mouth portion and fitting the cap having its internal surface wetted to the mouth portion (m) of the container.
