The indicator to show the presence of a round in the breech of a pistol has an indicator (120) in the lock. The indicator has a shoulder surface (121) with a tensed pin (122) to be pushed on contact with an inserted round and move the position of the indicator to show that the pistol is loaded. The indicator is only projected over the lock surface when there is a round in the chamber.
