A navigation device having a search-condition input section (12) for inputting search conditions for a user-vehicle position detection section (11) for detecting the position of a user vehicle and also inputting search conditions for a map database (13) including waypoint data; a waypoint search section (31) for searching in the map database for a waypoint conforming to the inputted search conditions; a distance/bearing calculation section for calculating the distance between the detected position of the user vehicle and the searched waypoint and also calculating the bearing of the waypoint as viewed from the position of the user vehicle; a waypoint-symbol display/control section (33) for creating waypoint-symbol display/control data used to display a waypoint symbol that represents the searched waypoint, the waypoint symbol being displayed at a position spaced from a user-vehicle mark representing the position of the user vehicle by a predetermined distance in the bearing that is calculated by the distance/bearing calculation section, the size of the waypoint symbol displayed corresponding to the distance calculated by the the distance/bearing calculation section; and display sections (16, 17) for displaying both the user-vehicle mark and the waypoint symbol based on the created waypoint-symbol display/control data.
