PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable musical equipment improved in operability, and also to provide a program therefor. SOLUTION: The portable musical equipment 100 of this invention has an operation part 102 for detecting movement of fingers on an optical slide. In response to finger placement on the end of this optical slide, a current directory to be processed is moved to an end hierarchy, and in response to the finger placement on the central part, the current directory is moved to one rank higher or lower hierarchy. Thus, the operability concerning operation going back and forth inside the hierarchies to be classified and managed according to a hierarchical type file structure is improved without miniaturizing operation buttons, decreasing the number of them, and without degrading response to depression of the operation buttons.
