PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner that can detect positional deviation in the sabscanning direction of a light beam through simple control without causing high cost. SOLUTION: In a scanning region to be scanned by a plurality of light beams, there is arranged an SOS sensor 40 in which the width of a light receiving face in the subscanning direction is smaller than the width in the subscanning direction of the entirety of the plurality of light beams and larger than the maximum interval in the subscanning direction of two light beams that are adjacent in the subscanning direction among the plurality of light beams. Light emitting control is performed in which a plurality of light emitting parts are made to emit light one by one by a light emission controller 50. A positional deviation in the subscanning direction of the plurality of light beams is detected by a positional deviation detector 52, on the basis of light receiving result through the SOS sensor 40 corresponding to the light emitting control.
