1,200,300. Feeding sheets. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 1 Dec., 1967 [15 Dec., 1966], No. 56174/66. Heading B8R. Components of battery plate packs, e.g. separators, are stacked on edge in a magazine 14 and urged forwards by friction by endless chains passing beneath the magazine, the front component being separated downwardly by a shoulder 29 on a slide 16 reciprocated under the control of a cam 52. The slide is connected alternately to suction and air pressure so that the end component is first held against the slide and then released from it to fall into a shoot 17. A conveyer carrying partly formed packs passes below the shoot and has projections which move a component out of the shoot on to a pack on the conveyer. For the feed of the battery plates which alternate with the separators in the packs, the suction and pressure devices are not used, ramps 48 guide the plates into the shoot, and an arm 18 is oscillated between two parts of the shoot, in synchronism with the slide 16, so as to control the descent of a plate in the shoot. Several feeding machines can be used in series along a conveyer, each machine delivering one separator or plate to each pack. |
