PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a leakage magnetic flux to a motor shaft, and reduce the iron loss in an electric motor, without causing the physical size of the motor to increase. SOLUTION: In the motor 2 comprising a stator 21 with a magnet 8, and an armature 9 disposed within the stator 21, a lateral groove 31 for suppressing eddy currents is recessed and is provided on an outer circumference of the motor shaft 10 for fixing an armature core 13. The lateral groove 31 is formed circumferentially along the entire circumference of the motor shaft 10. The cross section Z of the lateral groove 31 perpendicularly crosses the central axis O of the motor shaft. The path of the eddy current generated within the motor shaft 10 by the leakage magnetic flux from the magnet 8 is blocked by the lateral groove 31, the eddy current is suppressed from generating, and iron loss in the motor 2 is reduced.
