PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical quantizer and an optical analog/digital converter which are simple in configuration. SOLUTION: The optical quantizer includes: an optical splitting means 21 that outputs an optical pulse P10 to be quantized, a quantization target, by dividing it into a plurality of field paths; a plurality of optical filters 23a-23e that transmit each of the divided optical pulses to be quantized P10<SB>1</SB>-P10<SB>5</SB>with a different transmissivity; and an optical threshold filter 25 that successively receives optical pulses to be quantized P23a-P23e outputted through the optical filters 23a-23e and that outputs an optical pulse P25 when the light intensity of the optical pulses to be quantized exceeds a threshold.
