PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which decreases unevenness like vertical or horizontal stripes caused by inversion driving and of achieving high picture quality, and further reducing power consumption necessary for the inversion driving. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes: three gate lines in every two adjacent pixel rows: a first gate line connected to only pixels included in one of the two pixel rows; a second gate line connected to pixels in both pixel rows; and a third gate line connected to only pixels included in the other pixel row. Preferably, gate turn-on voltages are sequentially applied to the first, second and third gate lines, respectively for 2/3 of the horizontal period. Thereby, a period when the gate turn-on voltages are simultaneously applied to the pixels of both pixel rows is provided between a period when the gate turn-on voltages are applied to only one of the two adjacent pixel rows and a period when the gate turn-on voltages are applied to only the other pixel row.
