PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider having an element pad with a convexed curve surface which is smooth in nanometer order, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A heater 4 for polishing, consisting of a thin film resistor, is formed adjacent to, for example, both sides or circumference of recording reproducing elements 2, 3, conducted during the polishing of an air bearing surface 5, and surrounding substance is expanded. After the polishing and the conduction are completed, a portion, in which the heater 4 for polishing is installed, becomes a mortar-like concave part, and the recording reproducing elements 2, 3 are positioned on the convex curved surface relatively projected. By forming afterward, in the air bearing surface 5, a step bearing consisting of a shallow groove 7 and a deep groove 8, a magnetic head slider 1 in which an element pad 6a, to which the recording reproducing elements 2, 3 are positioned, has the convex curve, is obtained.
