PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front derailleur for a bicycle capable of easily returning a chain to a sprocket by the shift-up operation when the chain is detached. SOLUTION: The front derailleur 97f comprises a base member 40 to be fixed to a bicycle, a chain guide 41, and a moving mechanism 45. The chain guide has an inner plate 55, and an outer plate 56 which is arranged with a spacing from the inner plate 55 and capable of guiding a chain 95 between the inner plate and itself, and the chain guide is movable with respect to the base member. The inner plate has a first projecting part 55a projecting to the outer plate side on a rear end side on which the chain is advanced. The moving mechanism moves the chain guide.
