PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely perform the connection work of a gangway footplate between a rescue side elevator car and a rescued side elevator car. SOLUTION: This side section rescue device of the elevator car has gangway footplate receiving parts 4a, 4b provided on an external wall face of the car on side walls 3a, 3b having doors 2a, 2b for rescue and the gangway footplate 5 connected with the gangway footplate receiving parts 4a, 4b of two elevator cars 1a, 1b arranged adjacent to each other. Upward facing engaging parts 9a, 9b bent upward are provided in the gangway footplate receiving parts 4a, 4b, and downward facing engaging parts 13a, 13b engageable with the upward facing engaging parts 9a, 9b bent downward are provided at both ends of the gangway footplate 5.
