<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initializing method of a storage device in which occurrence of an error can be suppressed when information is recorded. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with a variable resistance element in which a resistance value is changed reversibly between a high resistance state and a low resistance state by applying different polarity voltage between two electrodes. Before information is recorded for the first time in the storage device having a plurality of memory cells comprising the variable resistance element, initialization is performed by applying a voltage pulse of polarity to change a resistance value from a low resistance state to a high resistance state, to the variable resistance element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
