PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting unit which prevents variation in quality inside each pixel from being sighted and improve directionality of a flux emitted outside. SOLUTION: The light emitting unit 10 comprises: a substrate 12; a plurality of light emitting elements 30 which are arranged on the substrate 12; a light shielding layer 52 which faces the substrate 12, and the light emitting elements 30 are placed between the layer 52 and the substrate 12; and partitions 40 which are made of an insulator, are placed on the substrate 12, and partition the light emitting elements 30. An opening 40a for demarcating a light emitting area of the light emitting element 30 is formed in the partition 40, and a light transmitter 52a for transmission of a light of the light emitting element 30 is formed in the light shielding layer 52.
