PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamable adhesive composition excellent in foamability, preservability and safety. SOLUTION: The foamable adhesive composition comprises a photoacid generator represented by general formula (1), a foamable ingredient having a t-butyloxycarbonyl structure represented by formula (A), and an adhesive ingredient. [In general formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>17</SP>are a group selected from a group consisting of hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, nitro group, hydroxy group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an acyl group, phenoxy group, an ester group, an aryl group, a thioether group, thiocarbonyl group, sulfinyl group, sulfonyl group, amino group, amide group, imide group, nitrile group, phosphino group, phosphonio group, a phosphoryl group and a 1-8C fluoroalkyl; and X is an atomic group possibly becoming univalent anion].
