<p>A solid-state image pick-up device and its pixel signal readout method are provided with features in which a dynamic range is large while an increase in pixel areas is prevented. A plurality of pixels are disposed. Each pixel comprises a first potential well (PW1) for storing electric charges generated by light, a charge-distributing-potential barrier (CDB) provided in a place adjacent to the first potential well, a second potential well (PW2) provided opposite to the first potential well with respect to the charge-distributing-potential barrier (CDB) for storing less electric charges than the first potential well caused by identical light intensity, first and second transfer gates (31) and (32) for transferring the charges stored in the first and second potential wells, respectively, and first and second floating-diffusion regions (26) and (27) for storing charges transferred by the first and second transfer gates, respectively.</p> |
