PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can shorten a preliminary ejection time of a recording head, and to provide its control method and a control circuit of the recording head. SOLUTION: Within a predetermined period, nozzles to be driven are selected from first and second nozzle arrays. With regard to the first nozzles in the first and second nozzle arrays, nozzles used and not used for recording on a recording medium are driven alternately and selectively and, with regard to the second nozzles in the first and second nozzle arrays, nozzles used and not used for recording on the recording medium are driven alternately and selectively in the first preliminary ejection control. With regard to the first and second nozzle arrays in the nozzles used for recording on the recording medium, the groups of first and second nozzles are driven alternately and selectively and, with regard to the nozzles not used for recording on the recording medium, the groups of first and second nozzles in the first and second nozzle arrays are driven alternately and selectively in second preliminary ejection control.
