PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary self-propelled endoscope which surely transmits a rotational driving force to a rotary cylinder of an insertion part from the side of an operation part. SOLUTION: This rotary self-propelled endoscope comprises: insertion part which are provided with an insertion part body, the rotary cylinder rotatably and externally fitted to the insertion part body, and a gear connected to the rotary cylinder, and which has a rotary shaft of the rotary cylinder borne by a bearing part supported by an elastomer; and the operation part which can be freely attached to/detached from the insertion part body, and which is provided with a part to be engaged with an engaging part provided on the bearing part, and a second gear meshed with a first gear connected to the rotary cylinder and connected to an output shaft of a driving means for generating the driving force for rotating the rotary cylinder. These characteristics can realize the rotary self-propelled endoscope which surely transmits the rotational driving force to the rotary cylinder of the insertion part from the side of the operation part.
