The energy saving infrared electronic lock core has an infrared sensor (10) which is connected to one end of a body (20) and includes an infrared receiver/transmitter (14). A radio frequency identifying unit (110) is electrically connected to the infrared sensor and can be started by the receiving of signals from it, while an electrical connection to the body for unlocking is provided. A dry battery as a power source (101) is electrically connected to the identifying unit.
