The system has an inflatable seat belt (10) associated to a seat (1) of a motor vehicle, and an attachment strip (13) fixed to the belt for locking the belt. The belt is modified in its extraction length using a belt retractor (15) and connected to a gas generator. The gas generator is filled with gas and inflates a flexible and an inflatable tubular body (40) disposed in the belt. A gas delivering pipe (31) connects the gas generator to the belt and is extracted at the same time that of the tubular body.
