A system and a method for displaying a rear image are provided to permit a driver to accurately perceive a rear object when entering a slope road from a flat road by automatically adjusting the angle of a camera in accordance with the slope of the slope road at the interface of the roads. A system for displaying a rear image includes a slope measuring unit(80), a rear bumper height measuring unit(70), a camera angle adjustment unit(60), and a controller(10). The slope measuring unit measures the slope of a vehicle. The rear bumper height measuring unit is mounted on a rear bumper of the vehicle so as to measure the height of the rear bumper. The camera angle adjustment unit adjusts the angle of a camera. The controller takes the height of the rear bumper as an input by controlling the rear bumper height measuring unit if the measured height of the vehicle is higher than a predetermined level, and corrects the camera angle by controlling the camera angle adjustment unit in accordance with the slope and height of the rear bumper.
