The device has a flexible drum driving belt (1) propelling a laundry drum. The flexible belt (1) is propelled by a reduction gear wheel (4) which is connected by a reduction gear driving belt (5) with the drive pinion (6) of a driving motor (7). The reduction gear (G) is tiltably fastened around a motor axle (8) of the motor (7) in a swiveling range from an assembly position (m) into a clamping position(s) so that the driving belt by means of the reduction gear wheel is stretchable. The reduction gear is positioned over an assembly post (9) in a clamping position(s) at a base of the dryer.
