An apparatus and a method for processing an emergency outgoing call in a private switching system are provided to swiftly cope with an emergency situation by compulsorily disconnecting a trunk call, which is in a traffic state, and processing an emergency outgoing call in case an extension subscriber tries to make an emergency call when all the trunk calls are occupied. If digits are inputted to a subscriber terminal in a PBX(Private Branch Exchange)(S102), the control part of the subscriber terminal judges whether the subscriber terminal is in locking mode(S103). If not, the control part sequentially transmits the inputted digits to the PBX(S104). The PBX compares the transmitted digits with the digits of each emergency phone number stored in its internal memory(S105). In case the inputted digits are matched with the digits of an arbitrary emergency phone number, the PBX judges whether an available trunk line exists at present(S110). If an available trunk line doesn't exists as all the trunk lines are occupied, the PBX intercepts the traffic call of an arbitrary trunk line and transmits an outgoing call corresponding to the emergency phone number through the disconnected trunk line(S112). |
