A device and a method for identifying a cassette in automatic drug packing device are provided to identify the cassette in a contactless mode automatically by attaching an RF tag to each cassette. The RF tag(110) storing drug information/cassette information is attached to the cassette(100). A cartridge(200) reads information of the RF tag, and outputs drug position information by combining the cassette information with a cartridge number. A position scanning board(300) obtains the cassette information from the cartridge, stores/updates the obtained information, and outputs changed information. An industrial terminal(400) transmits a prescription command to the cartridge and transmits the drug position information received from the position scanning board to a server(500). A reader(600) reads the information of the drug filled in the cassette. The server recognizes the drug position information and the information of the drug filled in each cassette by storing the cartridge/cassette information obtained from the reader and the industrial terminal.
