An LCD is provided to reduce parasitic capacitance between a pixel electrode and a data line and improve an aperture ratio by minimizing overlap between the pixel electrode and the data line and reducing a width of the data line. A lower display panel includes a gate line(121) formed on an insulating substrate and including a gate electrode(124), a gate insulating layer formed on the gate line, a semiconductor layer formed on the gate insulating layer, and a data line(171) and a drain electrode(175) formed on the semiconductor layer and intersecting the gate line. A boundary of the semiconductor layer is placed outside a boundary of the data line. A part of the gate electrode is chamfered. The data line includes a source electrode extending toward the drain electrode, and the drain electrode includes a first portion surrounded by the source electrode, and a second portion outside the first portion.
