The pump wheel (2) is a closed one comprising top and bottom cover plates (3, 4) with scoops (5) in between. The pump casing base (8) has spiral grooves (11) extending around the casing inlet (9) on the side facing the bottom cover plate. The grooves cooperate with boundary layer liquid flow on the underside of the bottom plate so that contaminants flow towards the wheel periphery. |
