A proximity probe and a system are provided to improve precision and repeatability of the proximity probe by producing a coil of the proximity probe in order to select operating frequency relieving temperature dependence of the output of the coil. A proximity probe(104) monitors a rotating machine by measuring a gap between the proximity probe body and a target related to the rotating machine. A coil is magnetically positioned proximately to the target disposed on a first side of the coil. The coil has the coil wire dimension and coil geometry for keeping temperature profile for resistance of the coil, constant when the coil is excited by excitation frequency of 150~350kHz. A tuning disk(114) is disposed adjacently to the second opposite side of the coil. A gap between the first coil and the tuning disk is changed to generate a predetermined scale factor for the coil. |
