<p>The present invention relates to a method and kit, including parts thereof, for the prognosis of breast cancer. In particular, the method involves identifying a gene expression pattern, or molecular signature, that indicates the likelihood of survival of a patient with breast cancer, and/or likelihood of recurrence of the disease in a patient being treated, or having been treated, for breast cancer, and the likelihood of a patient having a metastatic form of cancer. Six molecular signatures, comprising twelve groups/sets of molecular markers have been identified, which have relevance in determining the prognosis of a given breast cancer. Each molecular signature comprises a plurality of genetic markers whose expression, either high or low in respect of normal tissue, is indicative of a given outcome, such as survival or recurrence.</p> |
