An apparatus and a method for receiving broadcasting data in a DVB(Digital Video Broadcasting) receiver are provided to allow a receiver to accurately predict a burst interval to which data will be transmitted from a transmitting terminal by using delta-t information transmitted from the transmitting terminal in a DVB-H(Handheld) receiver. A section header extractor(917) detects section headers in which broadcasting service information is loaded from a received TS(Transport Stream) packet, and extracts delta-t information from the detected section headers. A time slicing processor(919) counts the number of the extracted delta-t information, and checks whether the counted delta-t number is identical to a predetermined delta-t lock number. If the delta-t number is smaller than the delta-t lock number, the time slicing processor(919) counts time when a next burst interval will be started on the basis of the delta-t information. When the entire time set up in the delta-t information is counted, the time slicing processor(919) resumes the reception of data.
