An image sensor having a white balance calibration sensor region is provided to reduce the volume of a digital imaging apparatus and to improve processing time by incorporating a normal sensor region with a compensating sensor region. A normal sensor region(35) is formed on a surface of a silicon substrate(33). The normal sensor region receives light incident through a lens to perform an imaging function. A compensating sensor region(37) is formed on the silicon substrate in the proximity of the normal sensor region. The compensating sensor region is for performing a white balance compensation. A semitransparent filter is attached to the compensating sensor region. The semitransparent filter is comprised of a bending layer(38) and a dielectric(39). The bending layer irregularly reflects the light incident through the lens. The dielectric reduces transmittance of the light transmitting the bending.
