An LCD and a manufacturing method thereof is provided to improve brightness by providing a light guide plate including a first surface having a plurality of lenticular condensing portions and a second surface facing the first surface, recessed from a surface, and including a prism type diffusion portion having a rounded summit. A liquid crystal panel(100) forms an image. A light guide plate(320) is provided at the rear of the liquid crystal panel, and includes a first surface having a plurality of lenticular condensing portions(322) and facing the liquid crystal panel, and a second surface recessed from a surface, including a prism type diffusion portion(324) having a rounded summit, and facing the first surface. A light source is disposed along at least one side edge of the light guide plate.
