A method for preparation of mullite and multi-components oxide composites is provided to produce the composite with controlled size of hematite particles, thereby improving ballistic performance and impact resistance by adding mullite to multi-components oxide ceramic and sintering the mixture to grow mullite part and to control the size of hematite particles. The oxide composite includes: alumina based ceramic containing 40-48wt.% of Al2O3, 40-49wt.% of SiO2, 0.5-1.0wt.% of MgO, 0.5-1.0wt.% of K2O and 0.5-0.8wt.% of Na2O; and 2-10wt.% of mullite powder having a dimension of 0.1 to 25 micrometers and reinforcing ballistic performance as core forming seeds. The composite is prepared by the steps of: mixing 40-48wt.% of Al2O3, 40-49wt.% of SiO2, 0.5-1.0wt.% of MgO, 0.5-1.0wt.% of K2O and 0.5-0.8wt.% of Na2O to form a starting material; adding 2-10wt.% of mullite powder to the starting material; compression molding the mixture and sintering the formed material at 1220-1310 deg.C to produce the composite.
