A method for forming a liquid crystal panel including a light blocking column spacer, and a display device including a liquid crystal panel formed thereby are provided to simplify a process and lower a manufacturing cost by forming a light blocking spacer that can serve as both a spacer and a black matrix. A transistor including a gate electrode(3), a gate insulating layer(5), a channel layer(7), a source layer(9a) and a drain layer(9b) is formed on a first substrate(1). An organic layer(13) is formed on the first substrate. A pixel electrode(15) passes through the organic layer and contacts the drain layer. A light blocking column spacer(17) overlaps the transistor on the organic layer. A second substrate(20) is prepared. The second substrate is attached to the first substrate to face the first substrate. A liquid crystal is injected between the first substrate and the second substrate.
