REVERSIBLE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND HANDY TERMINAL HAVING THE SAME

A dual LCD and a portable terminal having the same are provided to reduce an entire thickness of the LCD and the portable terminal, reduce a manufacturing cost, and improve brightness by displaying an image in both directions with a single panel. An LCD panel(100) includes a first display area and a second display area displaying an image from different surfaces thereof. A first backlight unit is provided on a first surface of the LCD panel, and emits light to the first display area. A second backlight unit is provided on a second surface of the LCD panel, and emits light to the second display area. A first light transmitting part is provided on the first display area of the second surface. A second light transmitting part is provided on the second display area of the first surface. The light transmitting parts have the same thickness as the backlight unit. The light transmitting parts include a protective layer(420) and an impact absorbing layer(410) provided between the protective layer and the LCD panel.
