A mobile terminal is provided to protect a main frame of the mobile terminal from damage, which is caused by attaching a counterfeit battery to the mobile terminal, by receiving no power from an external battery during a verification process and reduce power consumption of an internal battery by using the power of the internal battery for the verification process. A verification circuit(12) checks whether the attached external battery(3) satisfies a predetermined condition. The internal battery(7) supplies the power to the verification circuit. A power management unit cuts off power supply from the external battery to the main frame of the mobile terminal(1) and supplies the power to the verification circuit from the internal battery while an external battery pack(2) is verified. The verification circuit includes a comparator(17) comparing a verification signal generated from a terminal verification signal generator(15) with a verification signal generated from a battery pack verification signal generator(16) based on an address signal of an address generator(14).
