PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte providing a battery with excellent charging/discharging efficiency, load characteristic and low temperature characteristic by composing it of a nonaqueous solvent containing an ester derivative and electrolyte. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte comprises an electrolyte and a nonaqueous solvent containing an ester derivative expressed by the formula: R1((O)kCOO(CH2)mCR2=CR3R4)n. As the ester derivative, it is preferable to contain carboxylic acid ester expressed by the formula: R5R6C= CR7(CH2)pOCOO(CH2)qCR8=CR9R10 at 0.001 wt.% or more of the whole nonaqueous solvent. The reducing decomposing reaction of the solvent generated during charging can therefore be suppressed low to improve the charging/ discharging efficiency and low temperature characteristic of a battery. In formula I, R1 is H or a 1-30C hydrocarbon group; R2-R4 are H or a 1-8C alkyl group; (k) is 0 or 1; (m) is 0 or 1; and (n) is 1-4. In formula II, R5-R10 is H or a 1-8C hydrocarbon group, and (p), (q) are 0 or 1. |
