A method for performing data backup in a computer is provided to enable a manager to automatically perform the data backup by automatically turning on the computer on a backup time, backing up the data inputted from terminals, and automatically turning off the computer. It is checked whether a computer turn-on time of an external timer is set or not. If the set turn-on time is set, the computer is turned on, and the backup time/command and a processing command are inputted to the computer. If the backup time is reached, a backup command and the processing command are executed in the computer. An execution result and a situation generated during execution of the backup command are stored in a message file. If the data backup and the command are completely executed, the computer is turned off.
