A display device is provided to suppress generation of excessive heat from the display device by applying a small-load data signal to a driver chip instead of an image data signal or interrupting a signal applied to the driver chip. A display device includes a display panel and a driver. The driver includes plural driver chips, which drive the display panel. At least one of the driver chips includes a temperature sensor(210) detecting the temperature of the driver chip. The driver includes a temperature signal generator(220) connected to the temperature sensor and generates a temperature signal based on the temperature of the driver chip. The temperature signal generator generates a normal temperature signal when the temperature of the driver chip is lower than a predetermined value, and an erroneous temperature signal when the temperature of the driver chip is higher than the predetermined value. The driver chip includes a data driver IC(300) and a timing controller(100).
