A method of processing data for time shift in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to time-shift a current channel or a switched channel even though the current channel is switched by setting lock/unlock for a time shift channel. A program of a first channel is played when power is on, and the program is simultaneously stored as time shift data(S402). When a channel switching instruction for switching the first channel to a second channel is inputted(S404), it is determined whether lock for a time shift channel is set(S406). When the lock for the time shift channel is set, the first channel is switched to the second channel, and the program of the first channel is simultaneously stored as the time shift data(S408). When the lock is not set, the first channel is switched to the second channel, and a program of the second channel is simultaneously stored as the time shift data(S414).
