An apparatus and a method for canceling interference in a mobile communication receiver are provided to improve the sensitivity of a receiver in a static channel by adaptively varying reference values to discriminate between static and fading channels and to select a channel filter. An interference signal cancellation circuit in a mobile communication receiver comprises a power detector, a channelization filter, a channel filter block(310), a plurality of interference power detectors(321-323), a channel filter selection block(330), and a switch block(340). The power detector receives the first signal and detects the power of the first signal. The channelization filter selects a signal having a specific channel frequency from the first signal. The channel filter block contains a plurality of filters(311-313) which receive and filter the signal outputted from the channelization filter. The interference power detectors receive the output signals of their respective corresponding filters and training signals and detect corresponding interference power. The channel filter selection block outputs the second signal, based on the power of the first signal, the interference power detected from the interference power detectors, and plural reference values. The switch block, based on the second signal, selects one of the output signals of the filters. |
