An apparatus and a method for displaying an image by using a raster scanning type are provided to reduce ringing of a mirror by increasing a saw tooth wave retrace time up to 50% by controlling vertical driving of the mirror in an isosceles chopping wave form. A mirror driving control unit(810) controls vertical driving of a mirror(110) in a chopping wave form. A scanning unit repeatedly performs forward scanning and backward scanning to the mirror in a vertical direction. The scanning unit performs forward scanning by FIFO(First-In First-Out) and performs backward scanning by LIFO(Last-In First-Out) by using a frame buffer(810). The mirror reflects an electronic beam scanned from the scanning unit for forming a projected image.
